Satellite solar meteorology: operational use of the Meteosat system to compute solar irradiance

Abstract : Solar radiation is a parameter of large importance in a wide range of human activities. This communication discusses the potentials of the new satellite Meteosat for operational mapping of solar irradiance at ground level.
