Mesoscale ensemble wind forecast for wind power forecasting

Abstract : The aim of this study is to develop mesoscale ensemble wind forecasts using three systems: the PEARP ensemble system of Meteo France (10 members with 23 km resolution), the RAMS model nested in the ARPEGE (23 km resolution) of Meteo-France (18 members with 3 km resolution), the RAMS model nested in the PEARP system (10 members with 3 km resolution). These configurations have been implemented to simulate two strong wind events over a complex terrain wind farm. The results show promising ways to improve the accuracy of the wind forecasts in a wind power forecasting context.
