Effect of solidification segregations on phase transformation kinetics and on the development of internal stresses during cooling of steels

Résumé

The prediction of residual stresses during cooling has been widely developed for homogeneous materials. Here a coupled thermal-metallurgical-mechanical model that takes into account carbon content heterogeneities is used in order to analyse the possible effects of solidification segregations on the development of microstructures and residual stresses in heavy pieces during cooling.
