Numerical modelling of the film blowing process

Abstract : A numerical model of the polymer film blowing process is proposed. Non isothermal Newtonian and viscoelastic constitutive equations are considered. The numerical solution is highly dependent on the choice of the blowing angle at the die exit. Unattainable blowing conditions and multiple solutions are pointed out in the viscoelastic case.
