Hydrogel under shear: A rheo-optical study of the particle deformation and solvent release

Résumé

A rheooptical study of the hydrogel behavior under shear was carried out. For this purpose, a swollen hydrogel particle was immersed in silicon oil and sheared. High gel deformations and water release from the particles were observed. It was found that solvent release from a gel under simple shear is not negligible.
