Effect of injection and flaming of a formulated polypropylene on the mechanical adhesion of a paint
Role du flammage et de l'injection d'un polypropylene formulé sur l'adhérence d'une peinture
Résumé
Thermoplastic polymers are now commonly used in automotive industry due to their light weight and creative design. Now most of these injected parts are painted in spite of their non-polar character. A surface treatment such as flaming is necessary in order to functionalize the surface and to enhance the paint adhesion. Adhesion defects appear in some bright locations. The present work, following a PhD thesis [1], is focused on structural and physico-chemical parameters responsible for this change in paint adhesion.
