A novel eutectic Fe-15 wt.% Ti alloy with an ultrafine lamellar structure for high temperature applications

Abstract : A eutectic Fe-15 wt.% Ti alloy was found to consist of a ferrite phase and ultrafine Fe2Ti lamellar phase. The ultrafine lamellar structure was discovered to be thermally stable at temperatures up to 600 °C. Furthermore, the alloy also exhibited a very high yield strength (780 MPa) at this temperature so that it can be considered as a potential engineering alloy for structural applications at this temperature regime.
