Steven Epstein's book is part of a strand of current studies in sociology and anthropology, focusing on relations between science and politics in the biomedical field. In response to recent changes in biological and medical science, these studies aim to renew the question of biopolitics as defined by Michel Foucault, and propose original concepts for characterizing today's biopolitics and its effects.
