IMPACTS OF DIFFERENT COMBINATIONS OF HEATING LOAD PROFILES OF A BUILDING ISLAND ON A SMALL DISTRICT HEATING SYSTEM

Résumé

The management of a district heating system can be studied from the demand side : how is its operation affected depending on different aggregations of heating load profiles from several buildings ? In this study, we therefore consider small sets of diversified buildings one might call “islands”. Space heating and sanitary hot water are supplied by a small district heating network fuelled by a central heat production installation that is supposed to be composed of several staged heat production units. The impact of the refurbishment of part of an island on the staging of the corresponding production units is studied. The panel of buildings is constituted of standard and renovated low energy buildings distinguished on the basis of patterns of use (offices and multifamily residential buildings), envelopes and sizes. The first step consists in analysing and classifying individual load curves simulated on TRNSYS through statistical methods. We focus then on variations in the load duration curve, the peak loads and the intraday distribution of the aggregated heat load for different building islands.
