Résumé

The ecological and economic pressures push the sectors of aeronautical, naval and land transport to increasingly rely on components and structures based on technical composites. Composites, combining lightness and strength, contribute to the lightening of structural parts and help to reduce the dependence of fossil energy vehicles as well as their impact on the environment. However, the understanding of their behavior in use and their lifetime remains imperfect. This is a considerable obstacle to the use of such materials when the vehicle safety is initiated. This study is aimed at developing representative volume elements (RVEs) of composite with discontinuous reinforcements. The generation and homogenization of such element will help to better understand the influence of parameters such as fibers volume fraction, fiber orientation and length distributions as well as fibers shape on the mechanical behavior and damage mechanisms. The investigated material is a PA6.6 reinforced with short glass fibers and numerical analyses were performed using a parallel C++ library Cimlib developed at CEMEF. Numerical methods described in this study focused on immerged or body-fitted strategy (FE context - level set framework - meshing adaptation) for exact and statistical RVEs generation. Classical multidomain lagrangian formulation with an enhanced body-fitted remeshing framework is used when dealing with RVEs deformation. Numerical simulations under tensile loading were performed on different elastic microstructures in the aim of determining the longitudinal and transversal Young moduli. Local stress concentration was also analyzed for RVE loaded in the parallel or perpendicular direction of the fibers. Results were compared to Mori-Tanaka and Advani and Tucker models.
