Numerical simulation of high-speed nailing process

Résumé

Numerical simulation of High-Speed Nailing Process is considered with the Forge® software in the particular case of double steel sheets assembly. Model construction is detailed in terms of loadings, boundary conditions and material characterization requirements. Based on a coupled Experimental vs. Numerical approach, importance of material fracture criteria is highlighted through comparisons of nail penetration kinematics and sheet failure patterns.
