Numerical Modeling of Recrystallization in a Level Set Finite Element Framework for Application to Industrial Processes

Abstract : Recently, an original full field model working at the mesoscopic scale using the level set (LS) method in a finite element (FE) framework has been introduced. This approach has demonstrated its potential for the simulation of grain growth and recrystallization problems in the context of large deformations, allowing its use for industrial thermomechanical paths. This chapter illustrates the basis of this numerical framework, its evolutions since 20 years and very recent developments.
